Do you have good ideas that you would like to implement together with the EU?

Do you want to exchange ideas with young people from the entire Alpine Region?

Are you between 16 and 25 years old?

4x YES? THEN:

Join "PITCH YOUR PROJECT 2019" and submit your project idea by 31st October!

WHAT IS "PITCH YOUR PROJECT"?

"PITCH YOUR PROJECT" is a competition for young people and young adults between 16 and 25 years. As experts of your living space, the Alpine Region, you are invited to submit your project ideas for a sustainable development of the Alpine Region individually or as a group.

Under the motto "shaping.future.together.", the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) is looking for your ideas to make the Alpine Region fit for the future.

YOU COUNT! YOU KNOW BEST! YOU PARTICIPATE!

Present your ideas for a sustainable, modern and attractive life in the Alpine Region and win the implementation of your project!

We are looking for innovative ideas on the following topics:

  1. Climate change and natural hazards

How can we address the challenges caused by climate change and natural risks?

  1. History, identity and integration

How can we explore, develop and use the cultural characteristics of the Alpine Region?

  1. Green economy

How can we combine economic growth, sustainable development and environmental protection?

  1. Nature and environment

How can we protect and sustainably use the rich Alpine natural resources? How can we reduce waste, dispose of plastics in our daily life and take advantage of biodegradable materials

  1. Mobility and energy

How can we reach the transition to sustainable alternatives?

In November 2019, a jury will select the top 5 projects from all submitted projects. The jury will base its selection on the criteria of relevance, feasibility and innovation potential. The five applicants or group applicants selected by the jury will have the opportunity to present their project in English in a five-minute pitch at the EUSALP Annual Forum 2019 in Milan, the main event of the EUSALP year. The audience will then vote directly on the five projects. The three best projects will receive prize money from the European Union for the further implementation of their projects:

  • 5,000 euros for the 1st prize
  • 3.000 Euro for the 2nd prize
  • 2.000 Euro for the 3rd prize

If you are not one of the lucky five nominees, there is no reason to be sad: the submitters of the 15 next-ranked projects will be given the chance to travel to Milan and participate at the Annual Forum. The European Commission, the Land Tirol and the Italian EUSALP Presidency will book an accommodation in Milan and, depending on the number of participants, organize collective transport or refund individual travel expenses. An exciting supporting programme awaits you in Milan.

PITCH YOUR PROJECT 2019 is financed and organized by the European Commission and the Land Tirol.

PITCH YOUR PROJECT is your chance

... to present your project idea to a broad audience of Alpine-enthusiastic experts and decision-makers,

... to exchange ideas on the Alpine Region with like-minded people in Milan,

... to win money for the implementation of your project idea,

... to get support for the implementation of your idea

... and thus, to shape the Alpine Region of the future!

SOUNDS GOOD? THEN APPLY BY 31st OCTOBER 2019!

FAQ:

WE ARE NOT SURE WHETHER OUR PROJECT MEETS THE PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS. HOW DO WE FIND OUT?

First of all, you can check the detailed conditions for participation and check your project with regard to the mentioned points. If you are still unsure, please send a short description of your project in English to the project coordinator at pitchyourproject@alpine-region.eu.

WHAT IS A PITCH?

A pitch is a short and concise presentation of a project or project idea to find supporters. You have three minutes to convince your audience of your project or project idea. Two additional minutes will then be given to the audience to ask questions.

When preparing the presentation, concentrate on giving the reasons and objectives for the project, briefly highlight its implementation and discuss its relevance and feasibility. Feel free to use media (posters, PowerPoint presentations, etc.). Please let us know in advance what we should provide for you.

HOW DO WE KNOW THAT OUR PROJECT WAS SENT BY E-MAIL AND HAS ARRIVED?

Every applicant will receive a confirmation by e-mail within 48 hours that the application has been received.

WE ARE 16 YEARS OLD AND WONDER IF WE CAN COMPETE WITH THE PROJECTS OF YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE 25 YEARS OLD. DOES THE JURY CONSIDER THE AGE OF THE APPLICANTS?

The jury will consider the age of the applicants in the selection process. To create a fair competition, the applications will be divided into two categories: 16 to 19 year olds and 20 to 25 year olds. The five pitch projects will then be selected from both categories. The best rated project applicants from each of the two age categories will have the opportunity to present their projects at the EUSALP Annual Forum in Milan.

WHAT EXACTLY IS EUSALP?

The Alpine Region faces many challenges. Due to its unique natural and geographical characteristics, climate change, natural hazards, demographic changes or the negative effects of transport hit the Alpine Region with particular intensity. At the same time, economic globalisation requires a consistently high level of competitiveness and innovation. The seven Alpine states of France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Slovenia and their 48 provinces, Länder, cantons and regions have therefore joined forces within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) to meet these challenges with joint initiatives and projects.

OUR QUESTION DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE FAQ. WHO CAN WE CONTACT?

If you have any questions that cannot be answered via the website, please feel free to e-mail them in English to the project coordinator: pitchyourproject@alpine-region.eu.
