Seven priorities for the French Presidency of EUSALP

Jacqueline Gourault, Minister for Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities, and the Presidents of the three partner regions opened the 2020 French Presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) on February 4th.

The event took place in Lyon, gathering 500 participants, coming from the seven countries of the macroregion.

This year, France is taking over Italy to assume the partnership presidency of EUSALP, which brings together local elected officials, socio-economic actors and representatives of civil society around concrete projects for the Alpine region and its inhabitants.

Led by the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion, this collegial presidency is led by the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities, as well as the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne Franche Comté and Provence Alpes-Côte regions. d'Azur.

The 7 priorities of this presidency :

  1. Developing year-round sustainable tourism
  2. Promoting consumption of locally-sourced mountain products
  3. Developing sustainable mobility and transport
  4. Providing education for young people about mountain regions and enabling their participation in the sustainable development of the Alpine region
  5. Speeding up the energy transition of the Alpine region
  6. Conserving biodiversity and preventing natural hazards
  7. Activities to improve governance
