EUSALP 3RD ANNUAL FORUM: THE 2019 JOINT DECLARATION AND ANNEX PUBLISHED

6th Dec 2019

The 3rd EUSALP Forum was held in Milan on 28-29 November, under the Italian Presidency coordinated by the Lombardy Region.
With the concrete involvement of more than 300 young people from all over the Alpine area, some key issues for the EUSALP strategy were  discussed: which political priorities EUSALP should pursue, considering the next European cohesion policy 2021-2027? What types of actions should be promoted to support the concrete implementation of macro-regional strategies?
In addition to these issues related to Governance (the last General Assembly met in Milan on 28 November), the Annual Forum faced the themes developed by the Italian Presidency during the last year:  green economy, youth policies, the involvement of stakeholders and civil society of the different Alpine territories and the enhancement of cultural specificities.
A special framework was also reserved for the next Winter Olympic Games, considered an important opportunity for the Alpine territory
The final event was attended by numerous representatives of the EUSALP regions, the European Commission and the Italian Government, represented by the President of the Council of Ministers, H.E. Prof. Giuseppe Conte, who declared that "The Alps are a common heritage, have an ancient knowledge in terms of environmental sustainability, circular economy, sustainable use of resources and must be the laboratory of development models".  Prof. Conte was welcomed by President Attilio Fontana and by the Councilor for Climate and Environment, Raffaele Cattaneo, who officially closed the year of the Italian Presidency declaring: "Our strategy was born from below.  It comes from the territories, so it is important to demand greater involvement in political choices".
