The Parliament gives green light to the implementation of Macro-regional Strategies

18th Jan 2018

The European Parliament adopted on 16 January a resolution on the implementation of EU macro-regional strategies (MRS) with 580 votes in favour.

The MEPs believe that MRS make an invaluable and innovative contribution to cross-border and multi-level cooperation in Europe with a view of boosting connectivity and consolidating economic ties between regions also in the framework of Cohesion Policy.

Furthermore, the Parliament emphasizes that the next revision of the multiannual financial framework constitutes an opportunity to revise the MRS objectives at the same time, in order to strengthen their link with EU priorities and consolidate associated financial commitments.
